Dana: My name is Dana Buckmir. I live in Fairfield, CT. I'm a dog mom to Lucky, the Yorkie and Keira, the Boxer. They are the best of friends although they have polar opposite personalities. Lucky is feisty, while Keira is a sweetheart. We enjoy going to the dog park and for hikes. I'm absolutely obsessed with the beach. I'm a former high school English teacher, turned writer. I love reading and traveling. I enjoy sharing a meal and a nice glass of red wine with friends. Do you currently have a favorite TV show or movie? D: I'm drawn to TV shows and movies that are based on true stories. I just watched the Wolf of the Wall Street for the millionth time the other night. I love a good story! What genre of music do you like? What is your favorite song to listen to at the moment? D: I'm a big country music fan. I think that genre has a lot of heart and the lyrics are meaningful. Every spring, I go to the Tortuga Music Festival on Fort Lauderdale Beach. It's a three-day country lover's dream. My favorite song at the moment is Dan + Shay's, "Tequila." Since we’re in October is there anything special you like about in this month? D: My favorite part of fall in New England is all the fairs. I go to the Big E every year just to try the fair food. I also like the Durham Fair. I saw Blake Shelton there a few years back and Martina McBride recently. I like how the big country artists play small venues. I'm also a huge fan of apple cider and pumpkin spice. I love the crispness in the air that fall brings. I'd really like to go to a Halloween party this year. I have a Marilyn Monroe costume that I could rock. I’m interested to know more about your online presence. What is the name of your blog and what is it about? D: My website is www.danaliciousreviews.com and my blogger handle on IG is Danaliciousreviews. I'm originally from CT, but moved to South Florida in 2010. I started writing for a national online publication called Examiner in 2010 focusing on restaurants and then expanding to hotels, spas, concerts, local events, fitness, fashion and products. Essentially, I consider the website to be a lifestyle blog with a focus on food and travel. When I moved back to CT in 2016, I created my own platform Dana Licious Reviews. Since I've been back, I've tried to broaden my outreach to places throughout CT as well as NYC. I'm fortunate enough to be able to go back to South Florida during the winter, so I've maintained my contacts there. What inspired you to make your blog? D: I've always considered myself to be a writer but had never written a formal article until I received the opportunity through Examiner. After that, I was hooked. I love exploring new places and sharing my experiences with my readers. Are there any bloggers, YouTubers or people in the social media you look up to and why? D: Two women who I've met on IG that enjoy working with are Andrea @thehangryitaliangirl and Elizabeth @thefoodcaster. They are both very talented and I foresee them doing wonderful things with their careers. What is something you've learn since you started your blog? D: One lesson that I've learned since I started blogging is how important it is to surround yourself with positive, ambitious, like-minded individuals. I've been overwhelmed by the support that I've received from so many women and that's exactly as it should be. We have to collaborate, not compete. It's all about reciprocity. #womenempoweringwomen I heard you've published your first book, can you tell me more about it? D: I just published my first book called Plenty of Laughs: One Women's Journey Navigating the Online Dating Waters. It's a comical account of dating in the age of technology. Here's the book blurb: A sheltered New England girl relocates to South Florida and describes her online dating adventures in a world of perpetual vacationers, where values are skewed, lines are blurred, and her ideas about relationships indefinitely change. Dana, better known as her username, Dana Dane, has horrible luck meeting the man of her dreams. She recruits her promiscuous, gold digging friend, Missy, to help her navigate the online dating waters. The two women find friendship and self-discovery through a series of exploits, sharing their dating woes with both onscreen correspondence, and in person mishaps. After enduring more than her fair share of dating disasters, Dana Dane nearly gives up on finding romantic bliss until a blast from the past unearths a whirlwind of feelings from a love that she thought she had lost forever. Could it be possible that while she was searching for love, love may have just found her? My website is www.danabuckmir.com and my IG handle is @danabuckmir. My book is available for purchase online at Barnesandnoble.com as well as Amazon.com. You can access the free preview with this Amazon link: Click Here Do you have any goals set yourself? D: Right now, my main focus is to promote my book. I recently did a radio interview. I'm interested in doing more radio, TV, etc. to get the word out. It is a huge transition going from an introverted writer to an extroverted marketer, so it's definitely a learning process. I'm embracing the journey! My goal is to have a successful career as a writer, whether it be with novels and/or blogs. I feel like the possibilities are limitless and I'm really excited to see where this path takes me. Last but certainly not least, where can people find you at? D: www.danaliciousreviews.com Thank you Dana for participating in this month's blog post. I learned that we have a few things in common like going to fairs and apple cider! Apple cider donuts my favorite fall treat! We also like having other October fun like dressing up for Halloween. I can't wait to see your Marilyn Monroe costume. I wish you the best on your first book and your journey of being an author. Cheers to many more published books! *If anyone is interested in becoming the next Blogger of The Month feel free to comment below or direct message me on Instagram.
